Severe Weather in the Plains

WinterChat! Sunday, December 11, 2011

In this version of WinterChat! we will update you on the storms we talked about yesterday, in the same order.  We made a new map for the first storm, so here it is:
We are still expecting a similar track of this one, it's just looking like temperatures will be too warm for any significant snow out of this one, so we moved the starting point of the rain and snow farther north in response to this.  We also put question marks by the snow and mix, as I am starting to debate with myself if it will even snow.  Here is your CityCast for this one:

  • Minneapolis, MN: Snow
  • Des Moines, IA: Pretty much everything
  • Omaha, NE: Rain
  • Detroit, MI: Rain
  • Chicago, IL: Rain
  • Milwaukee, WI: Rain
  • Indianapolis, IN: Rain
As for the 17th through 21st event, it still looks like it will be a big one.  I have updated that map:
I kept the uncertainty part in there, but at this point we're starting to converge on a final track, so I only put two tracks in.  No CityCast for this one yet, so stay tuned.  The Christmas storm is still looking even more uncertain, so no map on it.  It's still looking like a big one.  That's all I have for now, so stay tuned!
