Today is another slight risk day:
If you live in a yellow area, make sure that you and others around you understand that you are at a risk of severe weather including damaging winds, large hail, and even a couple of tornadoes, especially from Minnesota into Central Wisconsin. Make sure that you have a reliable source for getting watches and warnings as they're issued, and that you know what to do if one comes out. Here is the SPC's "translated" thinking. A strong system in Minnesota will cause a few storms to develop in Minnesota, with a threat of all forms of severe weather. The hail and tornado threats are highest at this time. As we roll on into the evening, expect storms to congeal into a more or less broken line of thunderstorms, with the potential for damaging winds rapidly increasing. Across the Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio portions of the slight risk, expect storms to be less widespread and not quite as intense as the ones in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Still, it's plausible to expect scattered thunderstorms to develop, each with potential to produce severe weather, especially damaging winds. The farther east you go, we see a decreasing threat, and by the time we're in Pennsylvania, the threat for severe storms is only barely high enough to warrant the slight risk. I think that the parameters are there for a possible upgrade to a Moderate risk across portions of Minnesota and possibly Wisconsin. Stay tuned for that one. All in all, this could be another dangerous day. I close out, as usual, with my map:
Stay tuned!
