Severe Weather in the Plains

Tropical Update

Well, the Atlantic has flared, as has the Pacific.  First, we noted that Tropical Storm Cindy has formed.  It is not expected to become very strong, and has no threat to land.  For this reason, USA Weather will NOT be creating a Tropical Storm Cindy page.  We also note a weakening Tropical Storm Bret.  Due to its unimpressive satellite image and the expectation of further weakening, and the fact that its no threat to land, Bret's page will be taken down shortly.  And then there was one.  Hurricane Dora exploded.  Look at this satellite image:
A well-defined eye is the first thing you'll see.  Also, note the very good band structure.  It is now a Category 3 hurricane, with winds around 115 mph.  Now we're looking at the potential for Category 4 status.  Heck, there's even potential for a Category 5 hurricane out of this.  If you want the latest maps and Dora's status, make sure you keep checking on our Hurricane Dora page.  This storm is going to impact Mexico with potentially high waves and winds, especially in Baja California.  This is a dangerous situation.  Stay tuned.
