Severe Weather in the Plains

Tropicast: 07/19/2011

Good morning to everybody.  Today we find Bret out in the Atlantic becoming weaker, and Dora in the Pacific gaining power.  As they move away from land, we have trouble finding trouble spots right now that need to be monitored for possible development in the next couple of days.  However, as mentioned earlier, conditions over the Atlantic have become slowly, but steadily, more favorable for something to develop, intensify, and sustain itself.  If we get any big tropical waves to move in of off Africa, we worry more about development now than ever before.  The same is true for the East Pacific.  If a wave can make it over there, than we could see trouble.  All right, moving on, Bret looks like it should be weakening for the rest of its life, and may be down to tropical depression/remnant low status by tomorrow morning, but that's unlikely.  Dora, on the other hand, is strengthening.  While she may not quite hit major hurricane status, there is a distinct possibility.  Stay tuned!
